Tennis Camps and Clinics
This was my break-out year. There were 20 students most of which attended both the June and July sessions. They ranged in ages from 5 to 15, which I was able to separate into three different levels with older students helping me with skills development of the younger students. It was a lot of fun and a lot of court time for everybody.
Little Tennis
This is a teaching format for the 6-10 year olds. It uses smaller courts, smaller racquets, cooperative games and foam balls. Little Tennis is the same as QuickStart Tennis, its just different names as used by USPTA or USTA. The activities are simple are adapted to match the kids for coordination, cognizance and size. This level is fun and games with a tennis racquet. The ball is light and soft, designed to bounce low and provide a BIG SLOW target for children to swing at. Check out these Links to see the excitement provided with a foam ball and junior racquets. Little Tennis is to tennis what T-ball is to baseball...scaled down, simplified.
As the child gains skills and familiarity with a racquet and ball, they are then ready for coaching on technique. It is progressive and fun. This is a program for children that provides fun and challenges up to the level of USTA Quickstart Tournaments.
Beginning-Intermediate Tennis
Students will need to have well developed motor skills to learn footwork, ball tracking, swing path and timing. Tennis is a complex sport that requires strength, speed, touch and timing unlike any other sport. Conditioning and stretching are now integrated into the lessons. Once the intermediate students are able to rally, they then learn tactics. Game situations are introduced while technique, movement and balance are improved. We learn patterns of play, point construction, when to play neutral, when to add pressure or when to hit winners.
HS Tennis Training
I've got several students who are getting ready for their HS tennis season. Some kids think that they can make the team on natural ability, no lessons, no practice. And that actually happens because they're competing against others who have had no lessons, no practice. Technical training will make a huge difference. It will give you ability, reliability, confidence, tactics, strength and endurance.
Requirements
I've got a bunch of junior racquets so kids don't have to buy a racquet or search the closet. I've got a limited number of advanced racquets to demo if you're serious about buying good equipment. Just come out and have fun, buy a racquet later. Tennis shoes and attire please. Contact me ahead of time so I can plan for your success.
Past Summer Programs
I have been coaching since 2004. I started summer tennis clinics in Tehachapi in 2008. I am a certified USPTA coach and have studied both high performance tennis and Little Tennis.
For advanced players I can provide technical coaching, physical training, tactics, strategy, patterns of play and game analysis. This is were the student must commit to making physical, technical and mental improvements.

Tennis Camp - Summer 2009 - See photos
We had a teacher to student ration that was pretty close to private lessons for everyone. The 6-9 year old kids had never played with a racquet before and were hitting topspin off both sides by the end of the summer. My older student is now playing on the HS team and has stayed on for more coaching. She is now learning strategy and spin while playing for the Jr Varsity team. Way too cool for JVs.

We had a successful summer teaching tennis at the High School courts. Unfortunately, we were not able to continue the Motti-vational tennis program due to several complications.
